What I did this weekend..

I left work on Friday and loaded up June Dog so we could head to Russellville.  Once in Russ-Vegas, I caught up with the fam. We shared a nice carb loading dinner at a local Italian restaurant.
Saturday morning mom and I got up super early and hit the road. We traveled to Fort Smith, where I ran a half marathon. I have been training for the St. Jude's Half, but stumbled upon this half online and thought "I am trained, I should run this race." I have become really spoiled living in flat land. The hills kicked my booty. I think 85% of the race was up hill or a gradual incline.
But I survived.. Thanks to the cheers from my momma!!  We had the best day. After the race went and had lunch and then started our Christmas shopping! The weather was perfect.

We had a small interruption on the way home. We were pulled over by a kind police officer. I was informed that my tags were expired. My bad.. Going to renew my tags on Monday. (Promise mom)
We made it home safe and sound. We finished the day off with dinner at Taco Villa; my favorite place ever. It's a hole in the wall but a local legend. I highly recommend their baby bean and cheese burritos. Also, the soft drinks are better than Sonic (that's saying a ton). If you are ever in Russvegas do yourself a favor and stop by Taco Villa and try it out!! Holla
Basically, I had a wonderful weekend. It was the perfect mixture of being productive, relaxing, and spending time with loved ones. What did you do this weekend?

Curtains: Before and After

I have been looking for curtains for our living room since we have moved in. I have a hard time spending a fortune on window treatments, hence why we have none. After my morning run a couple of Sunday's ago, I stopped by Target and stumbled upon these awesome finds. Neutral curtains with a print. Best part of the deal is they were on super sale! Score!!
I went right to work. Rounded up all my tools and needed materials. Measured for the curtain rod and started using my power tools (really Mister R.'s drill) Look out world; lady on a mission.

The new curtains soften the room and frame the window nicely. No complaints here. Even Mister R. noticed (he is not the most observant man) the new digs. Hooray for finished projects!

I am a teenage girl

Guess what I am doing tonight? If you guessed staying up past my bed time and watching vampires; you would be correct. I just have to laugh at myself, acting like a teenage girl. Counting down to the premier of the Breaking Dawn Part 2. I am going with a bunch of ladies from work to the see 10 o'clock showing. Wish me luck, my track record is 0 and 2. I have fallen asleep at the last two midnight showings. Can you say lame-o? I went to bed early last night in anticipation. I am also considering a power nap this afternoon to improve my chances of staying awake for the whole movie.

Happy Thursday!!

Eggciting Baby Shower

Hi loves, hope you had a nice weekend. Mine was full of festivities. I hosted a baby shower for a dear friend. She loves all animals but especially birds. It was an easy choice to add a bird theme to the baby shower. Pics of some of the bird themed accents:

We had a brunch shower. Love eating biscuits, quiche, and fruit. All the food turned out wonderful. Shout out to everyone that helped with the shower food! No one left hungry!

Baby momma has wonderful friends and family that generously gifted her and baby boy with all the necessities and more. It is amazing how cute everything is..

Pictured below is art work for the baby boy's nursery. Stephanie really out did herself with the paintings. They will perfectly compliment the nursery fabrics and add a personalized touch.

I spent my time at the shower chatting it up with friends new and old, but more importantly holding this bundle of joy. Can you say "baby fever"?
We sent everyone home with fresh eggs!!! Thanks for sharing in this eggciting time with baby momma!!

All in all I would say that everything went smoothly and the day was a success. Huge thanks to all the lovely ladies that helped with the shower. Now we just have to wait a few months to meet baby boy. I can't wait to get that baby in my arms!! Babies make the world a better place!

Primitive Trunk: Before and After

I found this great primitive trunk about a month ago at an auction. The auctioneer identified that it as one of the oldest item he was selling that day.  I was a total hook, line, and sinker. I gravitate to wood pieces. I can't help it; my father's hobby was wood work. I love wood. I guess you can say that it's in my blood. The trunk looked really rough when I cleaned all the grime off of it. Here are the before pics.

I wanted to make show the aged of the trunk, keep it neutral, but add a punch of color. I picked a cream color and distressed it. Next I painted the inside box a fun salmon color. I can see this piece being used as a coffee table, storage for toys, or in a guest room.
Finishing projects makes me feel like a million bucks. Ready to move on to the next one, yay! This trunk is headed to the booth. Hope you guys had a good hump day!

Fall Treat: Chai Tea

It has been Fall for sometime. I really feel in the Fall groove now that the weather is cooler, leaves are falling, and we have been eating chili and soups. In honor of Falling back an hour; I wanted to share a sweet treat that I look forward to this time of year. I love Chai Tea Lattes but hate paying 3-4 dollars for one drink. I discovered  the brand Tazo makes these delicious tea mixes. All you need is milk. You add equal parts milk and tea mixture and than warm it up. I call is it happiness in a cup! It taste the just like the lattes I order from coffee shops. The best thing about the drink is I can get 4-5 drinks for the price of one at the Coffee Shop.
