I ran a full marathon

I always like to make a few goals for myself around the new year. This year, one of my goals was to run a full marathon. I felt like this was a realistic goal considering, I had run 2 half marathons in the last 2 months of the 2011. We decided to run the Little Rock Marathon!!

We are the girls waving..

My running partner Heather agreed to train with me. There is no way I could have done all the training runs without her. She was a wonderful encourager through out the grueling process. I am telling you guys the training is the hardest part- you have to dedicate large amounts of time to get the long runs in.

Posing for the camera
Mister R hung out with his cousin and his children. They were cheering on their momma, who was also running her first full marathon.
Hugs for Melissa- doing great

Mile 7 and going strong

I had to separate from Heather around mile 14. I couldn't keep up with the pace. I was slowing her down. So we parted ways and I ran solo the last 12 miles. The course had a a major hill that was quite a challenge. But I made it to the finish line several hours after the race started!! I did complete the race and now I can check running a marathon off my bucket list!!

Marathoners!!

Baby Announcement

Think back in December when the weather was cold, days were short, and everyone was busy preparing for Christmas. I had not been feeling like myself, so to speak. So after some investigating, we were blessed with some beautiful news. I was pregnant! Here are a few pictures from that day/ week. Mister R was out of town so, I had time to process the news and think of a fun way to tell him that he was going to be a father! Needless to say he was excited!
Selfie- I was home alone but wanted to document the good news!

Mister R was unsure, at first why I had given him children's books. His face was priceless when he put two and two together. Blessed to be trusted by the Lord to love and care for one of his children.

June was overjoyed too! - This picture doesn't due her justice!

I'm back...

Hey guys, I have been on a big blogging break. It's been about 6 months since I last blogged. What have I been doing, you might ask.. Something very important. I have been growing a human. I am excited to say that Mister R and myself are expecting our first child in August. Hopefully, I can get my bottom in gear and keep up to date about all the happenings at our home.

Major things that have taken place over the last couple of months... we found out we were pregnant in  December 2012. Celebrated the holidays. Continued to repurpose items and furniture for the flea market booth. Took a lot of naps and ate countless carbs and an abundance of cheese. Ran my first full marathon 4 months pregnant.  Emptied the guest room and started working on the nursery. Welcomed several sweet babies into the world. FInally painted our master bathroom. Last but not least, took a babymoom to Hawaii. So that's whats been going on here in a nut shell.

Sometime when we were living life my computer broke too. So my pictures are currently in never never land until its gets back up and running.  Forgive me for not posting pictures of all the wonderful things we have been up to.  Happy hump day.

Dresser: Before and After

Hey guys, I am still alive. I feel like the last month has flown by with a vengeance. I have been keeping busy working, training for the marathon, and doing a few do-it- yourself projects. Here are before and after pictures from a dresser I upcycled with some paint.

I found this dresser in NWA this summer. It was a bit of an eye sore when I bought it. But I could look past the horrible paint job (purple, orange, and gold blots) and see the potential. Here are a few before pics.

I had seen a few inspiration pieces on Pintrest.

I decided to go with the grey. I was very happy with the way the dresser turned out. I already sold the piece to a precious family. They will be using it for their little boy's nursery. (I am always overjoyed when my pieces go to a good home) The flea market booth was full and I wanted to move the piece- so Craigslist was my answer. I have been in a de-cluttering mood, if I am not using it, I want it out of my house. Anyone else go through similar phases? Okay, here are the after pics.

Much better than the purple and orange right?

2012 Recap

I love looking back over the year and reflecting. We were very blessed with an easy 2012. It seems to me that the year flew in and left ever so quickly. Here are a few of the highlights we experienced over the last year.

January:  Mister R went hunting all the time. I celebrated the arrival of Baby Barrett.

February:  We enjoyed a day at the horse races. We celebrated Valentines and our friendship with the Laurence family. Added bonus: their little love bug Elizabeth. I also ran the Color Run in Dallas with my mother!

March: I ran the Little Rock Half Marathon. Went to Hot Springs for the shortest parade (St. Pat's Day).

April: I planted my herb garden.. It was going fine until the summer heat scorched it. I don't exactly have a green thumb. We stayed home and did a few projects around the house.

May: We celebrated our 4 year Anniversary with a trip to Louisiana. Mister R. loves Cajun food and I love touring old plantations. It was a perfect mix for both of us.

June: Mister R. turned another year older. We enjoyed some Lake Side fishing..

July: Ventured to Dallas for my dear friend Amy's wedding.

August: It was hot. Our beach vacation had to be canceled due to the Hurricane Issac. We made the best of it and had a staycation in the Natural State. It consisted of Eureka Springs, hiking, bed and breakfast, NWA, good friends, and home improvements.

September: Outdoor living..White River. Celebrating Court's upcoming wedding!

October: Was an extremely busy month. I went to Napa with the fam, cheered Court on during her wedding, marvaled at Baby Olivia, and went on our annual girl's trip to Branson.

November: Partnered with my friend Erica and made our flea market booth dream a reality. Ran the Fort Smith half marathon. Enjoyed Thanksgiving festivities with our families.

December: Ran the St. Jude's half marathon. Mister R. has been hunting like a mad man. Celebrated the birth of the Christ child with a white Christmas.

2012 was a good year for us. We are undeserving of the blessing from the Lord. Can't wait to see what 2013 brings. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year filled with happiness, good health, and lots of quality time with their loved ones.
