A White Christmas

It was been a whirlwind around here. The last couple of weeks are a blur in my mind. We made a mad dash home from St. Louis of Christmas Eve in hopes of beating the winter storm heading our way. Lucky for us we made it just in time. Poor Mister R. drove through the night to make sure we got home safe and sound. I tired to stay awake but.. if you know me at all, you know that I live to sleep especially in the car. We slept in on Christmas morning, exchanged gifts, and enjoyed an old fashion breakfast just the two of us.  It was lovely and everything I had dreamed. Then we quickly got ready for lunch at the in-laws. The winter weather was coming our way quicker than expected. We made it to Hot Springs, visited, ate lunch, exchanged gifts and then headed home. We cut the trip short due to the sleet and freezing rain. On the way out the Village, Mister R and his brother helped a little old lady that had gotten her car stuck. (Very chivalrous men ) We made it home in time to enjoy a nice Christmas movie and nap. By this time the snow had started and did not let up.

We ended up with 8-12 inches on the ground and losing our power for 4 days. I am a super whiney, after day 2 of no power, I head to my parents home. They were so kind and took me in. Have I mentioned that I have the best parents? Mister R. stayed at the house and held the fort down and practiced his survival skills.  Needless to say we had a very remember-able White Christmas.

Naughty Puppy

It is the week before Christmas and June dog has been very naughty. She better try to redeem herself so she can get back on the nice list. It's not looking to good for her right now. She decided that she would open up a few presents yesterday by herself. Naughty puppy.

Sanded and painted..

Distressed

The nightstand truned out great. It has already sold! Definetly will had the perfect pop of color to any room.
Here is a picture from the new owner. I love how she paired with red- great contrasting colors.

Auction Finds

Last weekend I went home to visit my parents. It just happened to be my lucky weekend. There was a local auction taking place on Saturday. Mom and I headed out to find some treasures. Here are a few of my finds. I have painted nightstand and have a before and after coming your way. Kept the ornaments from myself.. they were just too cute that I couldn't sell them. The glass bottles are going to the booth. They are perfect for bottle trees and/or will make great vases, jewelry holder, fun additions to a vintage bottle collection.

Ladies and Babies

As Christmas quickly approaches our days have become filled with holiday activities and lots of hustle and bustle. The reason for the season is to celebrate the birth of Jesus our Lord and Savior. With that being said, I am trying very hard to keep my focus on Him and truly spend my time in honorable ways. What have I been doing you might ask..spending quality time with tons of my favorite ladies and their babies and giving thanks for all the wonderful people in my life.  The photos below are in no particular order. They consist of fun celebrations: the miracle of life, cherished friendships, and precious little baby angles.

June..

Life around our house has been extremely busy. June is so over it. Talk about some attitude. She has been spending her days lazing in the sun and demanding pets and food. We talked about her going on a diet after the holidays and she wouldn't even consider it. She is currently avoiding eye contact with me. Spoiled puppy.

Nightstand: Before and After

Happy Wednesday! Have I told you that I love Wednesdays? Why you might ask; because it means that I have made it through the tough days (Monday and Tuesday). By Wednesday you can tell what kind of week you are having and plan the next couple of days accordingly. You get the idea.

Okay moving on to the good stuff. I picked this nightstand up a couple of weeks ago at Habitat for Humanity (equivalent to a Good Will Store). I will run in the local store periodically on the hunt for treasures. Sure enough I spotted a diamond in the rough.

I wasn't kidding when I said that the nightstand was in rough condition. The graffiti really says it all.

Here is the after version. I still needed to attach the handle in the photo below.  I thought I took additional photos of the final project but ... I couldn't find them. Sorry
The nightstand is at the booth looking for a new home!! Can you find it? Give you a hint; it is under the trunk and table. For some reason I picture/see this piece in a boy's room. Isn't amazing how paint can transform things?
Are you guys working on any projects at your house?

St. Judes Half Marathon

Friday after work Mister R. and I hopped in the car and headed to Memphis. We met up with my running buddies and had dinner Spaghetti Warehouse. Carb loading is always the fun!! Dinner was filled with fun and laughter. The service and food were sub par in my opinion.

The next morning we were up early! Race day equals big excitement!! A few per-race pictures. Mister R. doesn't run so he kind enough to take my picture. I call him my official photog.

The weather was unseasonably warm- 70 degrees on December 1st. Crazy weather, no wonder everyone is sick.  I ran with Heather for the first couple of miles. But started feeling yucky around mile 3 with cold chills. I told her to go on without me and ran most of the race by myself.
Luke spotted me around 3 or 4. The race atmosphere was amazing. People crowed the streets cheering all the runners on. I was touched and moved to tears at times due to the support from St. Jude's patients, their families, and hospital staff. The signs they made were amazing and provided encouragement, expressed their gratitude, and showed their appreciation for all the hard work people that put time and energy to take care of the sick children

Luke was able to capture Jeremy, Kim, and Heather crossing the finish line. He missed Holly and myself. We must have snuck by him!!

Post race photo are the best!! Everyone seemed to struggle a little for some reason or another during the race. No on set a PR. I am so glad to have participated and finished the race. I would definitely recommend this race to everyone. It supports a great cause, has a pretty course, wonderful atmosphere, and is well organized!!

We walked back to the hotel so I could get clean up, pack, and then grab a bite to eat. We walked downtown to a local burger joint. Just what the doctor ordered. You have to refuel after running for 2 hours of your life.

Luke being a mess. He tries to act like he's not having a good time, in reality I am a ball of fun!! We had a wonderful time honoring and supporting everyone affiliated with the great works of St. Jude's Hospital. We had a great trip!! Hoping to make it an annual event at our house!
